After the record victory from ‘Barkhala’, the people of Barak demanded that Kishor Nath be given the ministerial berth.
Pankaj Nath, Assam, May 10:
The historic victory of BJP MLA Kishor Nath from the strategic Barkhola seat of the Barak Valley in the Assam Assembly elections 2026 has created a wave of excitement across the region. He defeated Congress candidate Amit Kalwar by a huge margin of 36,613 votes, securing a total of 1,02,775 votes, which is not only a testament to his immense popularity but also a symbol of the clear mandate given by the people of Barak Valley. Over the years, Kishor Nath has been active among youth, farmers, women and tribal communities in Barkhala and the entire Barak Valley. Even before he became an MLA, his public relations policy has brought about an unprecedented change at the local level. In the field of education, to strengthen health services, on the agriculture and employment front and also for the youth, Kishor Nath did a lot of work through the previous BJP government. Nath also worked in flood-affected areas, which proved to be a boon for the Barak’s people . With these efforts, Nath not only gave impetus to local development but also strengthened the image of the BJP. Many political, social leaders and organizations of Barak are unanimous that this energetic leader, who won with such a huge margin, should be given a place in Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s cabinet and he should be given a chance to work. Nath can strongly raise his voice at the state level on the burning issues of the Barak Valley such as water crisis, annual floods, construction of roads and bridges, power supply, education reforms and agricultural productivity. “Kishor Nath’s hard work and achievements are the basis of Barak’s progress. Making him a minister can prove to be a success for the BJP as it will respect the sentiments of the people. ”This request of the Barak’s people has intensified before the formation of the cabinet. They want the Assam government to recognise Barkhala’s record victory and give Nath an opportunity to work for the people by conferring the ministerial berth, so that the representation of the Barak Valley is strengthened. People also believe that only dedicated leaders like Kishor Nath can work powerfully for the interests of Barak.
