The Chief Advisor of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and prominent leader of the Assam Movement, Dr. Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya’s mother, Bina Bhattacharya, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, at the age of 95 at her daughter’s residence in Jatia, Guwahati. On her demise, his close friend and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with various organizations, social workers, and members of civil society, expressed deep sorrow and paid tribute and condolences. Among them, a team led by Asom Unnayan Parishad President Mousum Kumar Uzir, a prominent socio-economic and active organization of Assam, also visited Dr. Bhattacharya’s residence yesterday to express their grief and extend heartfelt condolences to him and the bereaved family. In his tribute, Asom Unnayan Parishad President Mousum Kumar Uzir specially mentioned late Bina Bhattacharya’s social service, religious values, and her role in guiding her children on the path of righteousness. The condolence team included General Secretary Chandan Bordoloi, who was present along with the President of Asom Unnayan Parishad at Dr. Bhattacharya’s residence to pay respects and offer condolences.
