18th SSB Inter-Border Badminton Championship to start from today, 24th October 2024

Guwahati, October 24: Border Guwahati organized the 18th Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Inter-Border Badminton Championship from 24 to 27 October 2024 at Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Kamarkuchi, Sonapur, Guwahati (Assam).
The competition was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Vimal Kumar Bista, Inspector General, CRPF, North Eastern Region, Guwahati in a grand function on Thursday.
The Armed Border Force is a border guard force under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, covering 1751 km of India-Nepal and 699 km of Indo-Bhutan in the states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh is responsible for the security and management of international borders.
Teams from all the SSB frontiers like Guwahati, Tezpur, Siliguri, Patna, Lucknow and Ranikhet as well as Force Headquarters New Delhi and Training Center are participating in the tournament.
A total of 111 players from all ranks of the force will compete in the open and veteran categories in singles, doubles (men and women) and mixed doubles. The aim of the tournament is to improve physical development and sports spirit and ability to work as a team in the strength personnel. The players selected during the tournament will represent the SSB in the All India Police Duty Meet (AIPDM) to be held in Hyderabad.
During the function, Inspector General, Frontier Guwahati Shri Sudhir Verma welcomed the Chief Guest and all the players from outside and said that this event will play an important role in maintaining discipline and team spirit in the force. Mr. Verma stressed the importance of sports during the meeting.
